Fitting Bottom Track to Carpeted Floor.

This is an Important topic and there are a number of ways to fit the Track.

1) If the floor covering is only glued on tiles which generally have no pile and a felt like appearance, they can have the track fitted on top of the carpet or you can remove the tiles and fit (glue or screw) straight to the concrete or timber floor and recut the tiles you removed to fit back in flush with the track. Do not glue the track straight to the carpet tiles as the glue holding the carpet tiles is not a strong glue and is only used to stop the tile from slipping) always use screws in this situation.

2) If the floor covering has a carpet with or without underlay or a carpet with a small woven regular sized pile you can screw the track straight through the carpet and into the floor.

3) If the floor covering is carpet with foam underlay and/or a carpet with a high irregular sized woven pile be careful with the way this is treated. We at Wardrobe Doors Australia suggest you have the carpet cut and repositioned on a carpet gripper (Smooth Edge).

4) An appropriate sized timber sill (floor batten) to lift the door above the height of the carpet should be used and the measurement for the height of the door should be taken from the top of this batten see Drawing 1a.

Do not Recommend using Glue(maxibond, No more nails etc) to secure tracks to floors, We only recommend screw fixing tracks. Glue can be used in conjunction with screw fixing.

IMPORTANT on loop pile carpets and other continuous thread carpets be careful not to grap a loop especially when you are predrilling to engage the screw as you have plenty of room under the track to cut a larger hole around the screw hole to prevent the threads from being tangled and pulled by your electric screwdriver or drill
